It seems to me that the main focus here is on lifting specifically for powerlifting comps and strong man type stuff.

The board is focused on developing strength and power for athletics. The problem is that there are an absolute ton of people who believe, wrongly, that lifting heavy weights isn't beneficial to sports performance. These people ask about stuff like plyos but fail to understand that being "explosive" isn't good for shit if you can only move 30lbs.
This board tries to show people how to develop their strength and power levels so they have higher athletic potential. The sport specific training is upto the athletes because I don't believe any of us are qualified to tell a fighter how to train for fighting. What we can tell him is how to get stronger and more powerful.
It's upto the figther to learn to use that new athletic potential effectively in the ring/cage.
Example:
If you asked me "How can I make my sprawl stronger?" I'd tell you to deadlift more so that your posterior chain is stronger. Sprawling requires extension of the body and hips. So do deadlifts. Therefore, given equal technique and reflexes a guy with a 600lb deadlift will have a more effective sprawl than a guy with a 100lb deadlift.
However, training the sprawl is upto you.
Most people fuck up by just assuming that if they add 100lbs to their deadlift that their sprawl will be better. It won't, necessarily. They still need to drill the sprawl and learn to use that extra strength in a useful manner.
Summary:
This board's goal is to tell people how to increase their stregth and power levels and therefore, increase their athletic potential. What you do with your athletic potential is upto you.
