Icon3 Add strength training to conditioning sked? Or after Boxing session?

Should I add the strength training sked with cardio/conditioning training or maybe do it after boxing sessions???

When I was doing Krav Maga conditioning was pretty much included during the hour and a half session. So I actually have separate time for strength training. Since I moved I have enrolled in a Boxing gym and I haven't been doing strength training but instead do cardio/conditioning on my free time. I'd like to add strength training back again to my schedule but don't know where to put it. I'd also will be trying to add JJ maybe once or twice a week by Dec or Jan.

Notes: I have work and family stuff so unlike a lot of people I have limited time. I box on MWF mornings and do cardio/conditioning when I can MWF afternoons or TTH mornings.

It would be useful if you told us when you have free time and how often you want to do strength training (2 days, 3 days a week). What do you do for conditioning? intervals? long runs? More details basically.

The conditioning/cardio if I get free time on MWF I do it around 5=6pm. pushups, burpees, sprints, jumping rope and some shadow boxing (I mix them up so not to get bored) I do LSD from time to time and am doing it often coz next week I have a 10km run. Normally the session would last for 30 min to an hour. On tuesdays and thursdays if I have the energy and free time I do them around 8-9am in the morning.

I'd like to do strenght training at least twice a week but not sure if I should do it after the boxing session or before conditioning/cardio sessions.

I'll be trying to squeeze in BJJ (Gracie Barra I think is the school here) soon, I do have to get the availability of the school but I hope it's either morning TTH or MW afternoons.

I'm thinking adding cardio/conditioning after my boxing session and keep strength separate.

I find it's best to seperate Conditioning and Strength. Don't perform 'em on the same day, it deters from the quality and intensity IMO. No problem doing either on skill days though.

That's where I'm comin' from anywe'...

The general consensus on training more than once a day is to have at least a 4 hr break before your next session... although that probably isn't practical for most folks... but generally early morning and then late afternoon/evening is ideal. But keep in mind that if you do stuff back to back, ie do your strength training immediately following boxing, it's pretty much considered the same session. I wouldn't try lifting beforehand though!

Thanks for now I'll probably add the cardio/conditioning after the boxing session and keep the strength part separate. Still trying to figure out how to add JJ in the future to my sked.
