Would you compete?

Would you compete in a competition that took place over 2 days (Saturday/Sunday) if your 21st birthday happened to lie on that Saturday? This is the predicament I find myself in, currently.

Thing is, I really only want to do the Sunday part of the competition (no-gi). Also, my team rarely competes together, and a decent number of teammates are competing.

Also to factor in, all my buddies are already over 21 and there have been many times where they all go out and I'm unable, so for the last probably 6 months to a year all I've really been able to talk about is my 21st birthday and how I need to do something big for it. All my friends are amped for it as well and want to do something big and it's pretty rare that your 21st birthday falls on a Saturday.

Tough call, suggestions?

I don't think anyone here is equipped to help you make this type of personal decision. How important is this particular tournament to you? How badly do you want to go out, drink 'til you vomit, and makeout with a whale while your buddies buy you shots and laugh? Both can be entertaining, rewarding, and memorable experiences. I suppose one of them is once in a lifetime, but then again, you can potentially also postpone it for a few days....

It's totally your call, depending on what you think is more important. Of course, you could always compete, hopefully win, then go out and celebrate with your teammates.

I wouldnt, just because of the simple fact that I would wanna a fine chill out day on my birthday, instead of stressing about a fight. But it matters on you, but you know birthday is only once a year...

Ask your friends to celebrate your birthday with you the next weekend.

Thanks so far, but I know no one here knows all the smaller variables and aren't equipped to make my decision for me. That's why I'm asking, "what would you do?" and "suggestions?"

Say it's your 21st birthday, it's on a Saturday. You can do a BJJ competition or celebrate your 21st by doing something big with all your friends. In this situation, what would you do?

Go to the tournament drunk. Get the best of both worlds!

Competitions come around a few times a year every year. Your 21st bday only happens once.
Live it up and enjoy your birthday with your friends.

Is that you in your av?

You dont need any more alcohol lol.

jk, but seriously - get your priorities straight. You can celebrate friday (not a good idea) or the following weekend. It doesnt have to be on your birthday. Alternatively, tournaments come and go. Unless its the world championships or something of that calibur, its not really a big deal.
