Help me out with the Brabo Choke. So Frustrated!
Ok let me start off saying I have went over all the "homework" instructionals for the Brabo Choke on Aesop's site before I started really trying the brabo b.c I didn't know many ways to slap it on other than half -guard but every since than I have been nailing the brabo left and right, I just can't ever seem to finish the choke unless I have a lot of weight on the guy and even than sometimes I still can't get it. I'll have the choke fully locked in all my weight sprawled on their head and nothing, I figured at first maybe I just needed to wait longer for the choke to settle in but after about a minute and a half of me just holding the brabo with no success i'm like "fuck it" and let it go.
Like I said i've been nailing this on a lot of guys lately from white all the way up to purple belts. But once I get in the position and everything is locked in they just never fuckin tap out.
Sorry im just so frustrated with this move, I could have another great move in my arsenal if I could just fuckin finish it. PLZ any advice on finishin the Brabo would be nice.

Once I get it locked I try to do pretty much what was said, Im pulling the head, pulling the one arm up (trying to use the bones in my wrist and forearm against the neck like daruckus said) and sprawling putting all my weight on his head. Are there any other movements I sound like i'm missing? >_<

What is your leg/knee placement during the choke? I mean, are they getting to their side or are you keeping them on their back? Could you be allowing them to shrimp in a little and relieve some pressure and create space (enough to keep you from finishing them for long enough that you abandon it without any further adjustments)?
Not sure what else, maybe Aesopian will chime in....

As far is this goes, I always ask if it was tight, they always say it was super tight just not enough to finish the choke but cause alot of discomfort.

pay attention to the arm inside.. make sure its cross his neck with the direction your taking. Dont think so much about just squeezing, take the time to make sure the choke makes sense.
I can understand why your having trouble finishing while sprawling.. Your most likely lined up straight with the guy. You need to work an angle to get his arm to cross his neck.. Work on shifting your hips one way or another, finding which way is best going to cross his arm tight to his neck.
Get a partner and go check out the move, your just as intelligent as anyone else. You can figure it out if you just take the time. With your partner try the move and ask him how it feels when you do different varients.. slowly pick apart the move to find out what is needed and whats not.. A lot of the time youll find that your wasting a lot of energy where you dont need to.

Depending on my entry to the Brabo, my and their position varies. However, the one that caused me to actually make a thread was when I caught 3 different ppl in the brabo choke from top while passing, and 1 from half-guard, so they end up more or less on their side with me sprawled out ontop of them.
As far as the shrimping goes, I suppose they could be shrimping to relieve some pressure as my legs are sprawled back, but how would u suggest I make adjustments from here?
Thanks again guys for all the help!!
