That might be how YOU look at it, but people who wrestle in HS, college, etc, do not look at it as a combat style. It's not trained as a combat style, it's trained as a sport. And again, there are different types of wrestling. American Folkstyle, Freestyle, Greco Roman, Catch. You want a different belt system for each one?

Wrestling is based on your ability and your previous achievements in competition to how good you are even Sambo traditionelly has no belts.
No one is any better than anyone else in Sambo you gain respect from your past achievements and how good you are not by what belt you are. Less politics

Just for the record, the Sambo uniform does use a belt to hold the jacket closed, but the belt is always the same color as the jacket (blue or red). The belt is not used to signify rank.

Probably because there isn't a lot of money in wrestling.
The belt motivate you to pay for your Karate or BJJ class, but as I understand it Wrestling is primarily a school/university sport, så they don't need to use that carrot.

Because wrestlers don't need belts to know how good they are, they just know!
And I can say this because I'm a brown belt and a wrestler, when you are at wrestling practice you just know who the better wrestlers are.
