Hardest thing for me is getting back to guard when someone has a strong side control on me. I can explode back sometimes but the more advanced guys can hold it forever.

Where I started training was a very agressive place. Agressiveness and ALWAYS getting to my knees for a scramble whenever I can. I don't just dont pull guard, if I'm on my back and I got room from guard/half guard/sidemount, I'm getting to my knees and going full force to get your back or take you down. That characteristic was the hardest thing for me to learn and become second nature.

Of course, passing guard is fucking hard.

Specifically for me: takedowns. Takedowns are probably up there with passing the guard assuming you are starting from zero. My halfguard needs work.

I really need to get what Max Shane was talking about in my head. THAT is the way to roll. Like if you watch Rickson and Rigan go at it, you can see that neither of those guys are content to settle for guard. They are constantly going to knees and fighting to get on top when on the ground.

The absolute simplest part. Hips down and putting full weight down while I'm on top. I'm one of the lightest in the gym and yet don't seem to want to put weight down and bring on the pain.

I worked extensively with one of the purple belts on it for 2 hours, 30-40 mins of which was general rolling and him yelling "HIPS DOWN HIPS DOWN" as I tried to establish side control on him

I have to agree with the others, passing guard and takedowns. Difficult to be consistent at.

Welll how do I explain this without trying to sound is I am more than what I am...cuz really im not. But my #1 issue is and has been ...conditioning. If iwas as good in minute 10 or 15 or even 5 as I was in 1,2,3 or 4 I would think I would be a very good grappler. I have a good base on top, decent Takedown defense , decent takedowns, passable subs from bottom and pretty good escapability from bottom. My achilles is my gas tank...and now I smoke a pack a day.

I have gone with guys of all levels and done very well always until my tank goes empty then I become fred ettish. Anything they want is there! I have specific examples but I will spare you ..for now...

where do I start...

Telegraphing and "muscling" my subs, going for subs that aren't there. Gets me into lots of trouble, all the time. For obvious reasons.

Sweeps and submissions from guard. My guard game used to be so bad it wasnt even funny. Granted im not a bj guy but still. Then within a week it sudenly clicked and i started tapping people i never would have thought possible. It definately has become a strength rather than a weakness.
