What is the most successful/highest percentage Judo throw?
Hi.
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Judo, and I was wondering which throw you Judokas have the most luck with...
Thanks

There's not just one. It all depends on the build and preference of the individual.
My common ones are uchimata, kouchigari, deashibarai and (drop) seoi-nage (off a lapel grip)

if you are completely new to the stand up game, I think osoto-gari is pretty efficient and easy enough to pick up.. but jugogido is the man for this question ;-)

one second you'll all get a kick out of this
As of the time the list I'm searching for was created (mid-late 90's I think) the most ippons happen with
1 Ucimata
2 Seoi Nage
3 Kata Guruma
Lemme find the rest of the list.
But obviously you could take a never utilized throw like Yama Arashi and make it a beast in comps. if you made that your goal. So the list has t be put in perspective. Just because Uchimata is number one, doesn't mean that's the throw you shold practice the most.
JUDOGIDO has the best advice. Find your body type and skill set, and run with it from there.
*Goes and drils Yama Arashi 250 times*

Ahh here we go. A bit outdated. 1962-1971. It's also a list for the All Japan High Shool Championships. So maybe it doesn't apply like I thought it would. But anyway:
Before I piut the list up: Uchimata, Seoinage (ippon or morote), and Kata Guruma are the top 3 most ippon scoring throws NOW... Among the top 10 now there's also: Harai Goshi, Osoto Gari, Tomoe Nage, Ouchi Gari, ahhhh I forgot the rest. I don't remember the order after 1-3 either. Maybe someone can help.
These are fom the days of old. The numbers are all Ippons.

Amazing how Kata Guruma only scored 9 Ippons in 9 years. Watch any international competition now, and it's every other throw. I will say that once Europeans entered Judo, they changed th game the way the construction of the baseball forever changed that game.
Bu it's still nice to see some things remain the same. Uchimata, Seoinage, Tai Otoshi, Harai Goshi, Osoto Gari are still top dogs nowadays.
