BJJ is child's play compared to judo (regarding impact on body).

Okay, so I tore my ACL, had surgery, was feeling a bit down about being out til next year and asked the other Judo guys for some feedback - How exactly does that make me a pussy? I know you aren't a 12 year old, man, what the hell are you talking about?
I'm not anywhere near as skilled as alot of the guys that post in this thread - I don't even compete - but I've done Judo as a hobby 3 to 4 days a week for almost four years. I'm not a bitch, and I'm not a pussy.

^don't worry about it, judo is undoubtedly one of the toughest sports, mentally and physically. All you can do now is take it easy, and do what you can until you get back to fighting shape. I'm training lightly for now, but once my surgery is done, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I might have to wait a year for surgery, and then take 6-8 months of recovery so don'tfeel bad, you're closer to being back right now then I am. Good luck man,

No one is calling you a pussy. We've all been injured before. It sucks and being forced to sit on the side and watch and not do anything is as bad as it gets. It will get better though. You will rehab your leg and be back to training sooner than you think.

No need for nasties lads, take it easy on the personals here!!
People get injured, some injuries you can endure through, others you HAVE to sit out no matter what if you ever want to fully function physically again, thats as plain as it is.

Judo= more throws, trips, takedowns, limited time on the ground
BJJ: More focus on the ground work, submissions, guards, sweeps, guardpasses etc etc

so judo is basically, Getting someone to the ground, and BJJ is more submitting people whilst on the ground..
Judo still works with submissions though right? just not nearly as much as BJJ does right?

yeah stills has submissions, no leglocks thou, and not the complete arsenal when it comes to armlocks either, in theory shoulder locks are banned but in practicallity they hurt (:
You can win by pin aswell, judo ground gmae is more explosive then BJJ, you need to progress otherwise you are stood up
as far as taking Judo and BJJ, well it goes down to the debate if you want to be wellrounded or an expert
you will get some takedowns/defense in BJJ and some subs/groundwork in Judo
really dpends on the school you find, especially when it coems to judo, it has been around for so long that there are alotta recreatinal judokas around, BJJ is still quite new so ther is a llesser risk of that I would think
