Grip: sledge hammer, dead lifting, gi / towel pull ups, C.O.C grippers....
Both upper body and lower body are important. Work both.
For puling: pull ups, dead lifts, bent over rows, curls...

I'm fighting June 14th. Thanks for remembering. I started to train in boxing some, but realized quickly that there wasn't enough time to get decent. So, it's going to be mostly Judo on my end. Hopefully not like Yoon Dong Sik's first fight, like Soko would be better...

Dayum. I thought May 31st.
Not judo. Just Bubbleboy fighting. We'll prolly see some judo tho.

ICM, farmer walks mate. Trust me, I always say it, just grab ridiculously heavy dumbells and start walking. Im talking 50kg (around 115lbs) bells, in one each hand, and walk around an athletics track or something. Your head'll want to explode and you'll hardly be able to move the next day, but your hands and forearms will get an unbeatable workout. That and fighting good positive grippers a lot will improve your grip.

MMA, amateur... a notch above a smoker, but not much. It's in a ring, on the rez. It's pretty ghetto dude. Three 2 minute rounds, so I'm thinking it's gonna be all out ballistic war.

^go in throw a few combos and then take em down. Lol, don't forget your judo roots! Any times I've gotten into a fight I've just thrown overhand rights and left hooks haha, seemed to work for me. If someone clinched, boy I would love to toss them! I did muay thai for a bit, but now I just dabble in it, judo for me . Yeah there's a guy around here whose built up a pretty good record, and does crazy judo throws in his fights. Judo is totally underestimated. Good luck though dude.

First Class
I didnt want to make a new thread for this.
My MMA club recently added a judo class once a week after BJJ. I'm thinking i should go tomorrow just to see how it is.
Wondering what i should expect and how much it will hurt getting tossed into the mats.
Cheers

^expect to suck at judo, expect not to understand everything, and expect to learn breakfalls if you haven't. And yes getting thrown hurts like a bitch, with proper breakfalls they'll hurt ALOT less, but most likely it will be because by that time you will be used to absorbing impact haha. Being stiff and resisting getting thrown will just make it hurt way more when you do get thrown, cardinal mistake from whitebelts.
