Another ex-judoka fighting in UFC 84.

Yoshiyuki Yoshida - '4th dan judo black belt and numerous titles' wanted to see what else he could do after retiring from judo.

He's got a 9-2 record. Undefeated in his last 6.

That makes 3 at UFC 84

..none on the main card tho.

kosoto is another good basic.

I would just stick with the 1st 3 tho. They good for getting better.

Ogoshi does alot to prep for many more hip throws like harai, uchimata..

Just go front and back 1st imo.

Those 3 forward and back throws are ok for you, make sure you have someone monitoring your form for the uchi-komi though because what you are doing there is training your muscle memory, and if you train it incorrectly its hard to fix later.

so tru. I find it hard to believe I could learn w/o a good partner and more importantly a coach.

Not to disenchant kaboom, but it goes thru so much troubleshooting...you might end up wondering why it never works at speed.

Even 1 on 1 with a private can't do beans imo, without a solid base. Unless the private also brings an uke.

My o-uchi blows so much that I dont think Ive ever hit one in randori or comp for this very reason as I did it all wrong for years in uchi-komi with nobody really pointing it out. Its kinda embarrassing, when a beginner calls me over to ask for help with o-uchi Im kinda embarrassed as mine blows.

ot but..Did you train judo thru puberty? I mean, to me I like ouchi for instance but it has changed simply due to the ages and weight. Puberty is such a benefit to have some judo down.

edit..ahh.. that gives me a idea on explaining my reasons for liking gi prior to nogi.

Started a little later than that, but the damage was done early on with this throw. One of the basics, I also never get thrown with it though, in fact thinking of it now, Ive never been canned by it once I dont think, Ive nailed several people going in for it with counter, knocked one dude out with an ura-nage when he tried it on me.

O-uchi
