I heard rumors (these are RUMORS, mind you) that the IJF was exploring the following rule changes after the Olympics:

1) One ref on the mat instead of 1 ref & 2 line judges

2) Ippon & Yuko only (buhbye koka & waza-ari)

3) Osaekomi reduced to 20 secs (20 sec ippon, 10 sec yuko)

4) "3 strikes" shido penalty system (1st is a warning, 2nd is yuko, 3rd is hansoku make)

5) Senior matches reduced to 4 mins.

6) Uniform border rules (tachiwaza judged the same as newaza with regards to being offsides)

...

There are no words.

you know what they need>? A little longer newaza time. I don't like the osaekomi reduction, however I like the ippon/yuko rule.

I'm down with the simplification but I would love a longer osaekomi or atleast keep it the same.

Yeah, but I'd also allow greater leniency when it comes to "progress" in newaza.

I'm fine with scoring (people will be playing ippon judo now instead of nickel & diming throws) but the loss of the line judges really sucks. I bet there's going to be a helluva lot more shit calls if the changes are made.

They will never do away with the 2 judges on the sides.

Any tao otoshi players here?

been thinking of adding this to my arsenal of comp throws

I like it because if somebody steps over it I can go easily into kouchi or ohochi gari8or a ankle pickup)

So far mine has been a more folding version not the circular I seem to read in books

Yeah ^ I've been trying tai otoshi from the regular lapel grip and the two on one grip as well. I can do it great in uchi komi, but it feels horrible in randori or shiai. I don't think I have enough pull, and I might be telegraphing it as well. I tend to get stuck with me leaning forward in tai position, and them not going over lol.
