Eh, I'd say go for it. At worst, you'll get some mat time and at best you'll get your black. It's all good.

I made the mistake of telling my coach that I twisted my ankle a couple days ago. He told me I wouldn't be going live today. I tried to respectfully argue that everything was fine and I was good to go. He didn't budge. Not 2 minutes after that on the very first warm-up (cartwheel) I sprained it again.

I had to laugh in embarassment at the irony. The Judo gods have a sick sense of humor. Coach only shook his head in an "I told you so" fashion.

Needless to say I spent practice teaching the WBs pins.

<------- lol

I hate being injured. I can't find out if I have a tear in my knee for three weeks ? it's garbage. All I do is the fitness and then technique at training for now. I do throw for throw in during randori so I'm still tenderized and don't lose the feeling of bein on the mats

Worst part of it all: due to my work schedule this was my one week to train (on consecutive days) for a few months. It was 2 weeks of no Judo before that and I'll probably be something similar to that until we can get an evening class going.

Yeah on another note, I did some light tachiwaza today, . I'm pretty happy with how it went, need to work on grip fighting alot more. I started doing this 2 on 1 osoto and I'm pretty happy with it. Gonna keep workin on it hard. Hopefully I'll be ready to go, come junior nationals.

I love Osoto!

I'm trying to work on being able to hit it from any grip, anywhere.

For some Osoto tips from the man himself (Yamashita) check out this clinic he did not long ago. (FYI my Coach and 2 teammates were there for it)

Part 1
YouTube - Yamashita O Soto Gari Part 1

Part 2
YouTube - Yamashita O Soto Gari Part 2

Part 3
YouTube - Yamashita O Soto Gari Part 3

In fact click on the posters profile and you have like 6 videos from that clinic.

Coach came back with the stuff he learned and taught it to us. Amazing how simple some stuff is.

Anybody hear of them changing/simplifying the rules or am I just being misinformed?

On a side note: Today being one of the last few weeks of the school semester we just had randori today. Me and a buddy of mine we're going pretty light and he had grip on a single. I was hopping around and he kept trying to sweep my leg and I kept hopping over it. We just kept laughing. Now if this was a real match I would have ate shit at how airborne I was jumping over his sweeping leg.

Yeah basically I want to be able to hit it from the two on one, over the shoulder grip, and the regular lapel grip. The biggest problem I think for me now is not enough chest to chest contact. I turn my osoto more into a gake for some reason, I'm trying to get a powerful reap but it always ends up making contact, and then I have to drive through. I find shiai osoto is often like this anyways so oh well. I've been trying to practise the swinging leg thing that yamashita does as well. I think it is just to develop a more powerful reap, as the form looks completely different in shiai as opposed to uchikomi.

Currently my main focus is on grip fighting, uchi mata, osoto gari, ouchi gari, and tai otoshi. My taio is horrible right now though.
