I like the way this thread has turned out!

Yamashita is like some sort of Judo MACHINE!

I think I would run away when looked up to see him lining up against me in a match!

He once famously said "if people knew what was in my head when I did judo, nobody would agree to face me". A real gent, idolised here in Japan.

do you guys think when you compete? like what to do next or listen to you coach?

I have always been a very introvert athlete when competing myself, I don't hear my coach be it football, handball, boxing or judo, when it is going good I feel like I am watching myself from outside my body, I can hardly remember waht I did in fights either

Funny thing is that when I coach I am very vocal, even received a couple of red cards as a football coach

When I compete, I hear nothing except my coach. Coaching helps me alot, because when I compete, I have to be in the right state of mind. I'm a very active thinker when I compete.

On another random not, does anyone have any good inoue highlights, like that yamashita one?

I'm the opposite.

I have to remember to look over and take the coaches advice as I usually tune out everything - him included.

When I coach, I try not to just yell out random advice - I shut up and offer encouragement and only offer advice when I think it is needed.

I started with Judo and have gone and trained with all kinds of grappler's. Its a shame that some BJJ and Judo practitioners do not get one, if they helped each other with there weaknesses, they could become some great grappler's, strong standing and on the ground.

I am all ears for about the first 10 seconds and can hear the crowd and my coach and his coach, but I soon zone out and just focus on my grips and about getting my combos off. A lot of this comes from being on my own at comps here.
