Honestly,
I think we will hear a lot of protest from the Russians, Georgians, and former Soviet block countries.
The limited use of leg attacks is complete BS to satisfy countries who feel left out of medal contention.
Ironically the "traditionalist" Judokas of Japan, China, North/South Korea and Brazil have managed to adapt, with the first three are always in the top medal contention whether its the Olympics or World championships.
Barcos is just trying to curry favor to his own country like Spain or other countries who have struggled in recent decades.

Professor Kano is going to come out of his grave and start dumping these idiots on their heads for their ignorance. I hate how judges can't even recognize certain ground techniques and stand you up prematurely. How can they outlaw Ude Garami, that doesn't make and damn sense!!
For the guy that said that a green belt yelled at him because he claimed that Ude Garami was dirty judo, that green belt doesn't deserve his green belt because he obviously does not know judo. He should know what that submission is and where it came from.

Considering the most painful armbar in competition I've ever suffered was ude garami from a green belt (when I was a white) I agree with you. You know its bad when your opponent hears popping from your own shoulder.

Apparently, "Americana-style", where the pressure can be applied better on the elbow is permitted, but the regular Kimura applies pressure on the shoulder, which is illegal, according to the guy, lmao

I refuse to stop Kimuraing people. They could lose a lot of players to BJJ with this.

Well, I don't believe that either is more of an attack against the shoulder than the other, but technically that is true... though I have never seen anyone DQ'd for applying either, including myself, when I know very well that my armbar attacked the shoulder. Apparently ude garami can be used to attack the elbow, but it over 13 years of Judo, I have never once felt it applied so it it attacked my elbow.

Yeah no shit, all the pain I've ever felt from it was in my shoulder.
