Question about Judo for MMA
Hey guys I recently check out a judo school that was hidden in my area. Anyway I was told that it was Kodokan Judo , which practice about 50/50 standing and ground. I seem to be the youngest person there and most of the people are recreational judo players. Now this isn't strictly a judo school it offer other classes too , but Judo is only offer twice a week at 2 hours each class.
Do you guys think I can develop good judo here? I was told they aren't a competitive school but they aren't against competing either. My main goal is MMA, and I'm fairly young ( 20 ), I do train wrestling on the side. I am worried I won't get good and will be wasting my time. I remember reading a thread about how much better a competitive judo school was as opposed to a recreational one.
Any advice, thoughts or comments appreciated.
edit: btw I'm looking to have a good grappling based, and throws right now I would call myself a good beginner grappler. I can hang with purples (bjj) and not get tap 8/10 of the time but can't do anything else beside that ( get positionally dominated but i escape most of the time) , with blues i'm pretty even but I'm not good at submissions just good at escapes. My striking is good.
