Hey I was grappling with my brother and notived he always had a tendancy to go for the same throw, what are ur some favoritew throws and why???

Mine is Hari-goshi or sweeping hip because it allows for power when u want it or a quick take down when u need it gi or no gi. What about u???

Although I love hip throws, my favorite is either a single leg shoot or getting double underhooks and sweeping out one leg. Not fancy, but dominating and effective.

Lateral drop, when you hit it you wind up right in side control and it takes the wind right out of the guy.

Salto and Japanese Whizzer (I dont know what you judo guys call that one)

Guys think that getting underhooks are such a dominate position and tend to push foward, so I launch 'em.

I love it because nobody ever expects that, its pretty simple to pull off and its a lifesaver when your opponent is defending double legs really well. When you pull it off, instead of just letting him fly I hold onto him and I end up right in Mount prety much.

I like to give my opponent a single leg and then counter. According to friends that have done Judo there are apparently Japanese names to some of the counters I do but I've never really bothered to remember them. I learned them in wrestling and they're going to keep their English names.
When on the offensive I prefer shots and trips, but I use a shoulder throw I picked up sometimes. It also has a Japanese name, but it was called a Japanese Whizzer in wrestling and I call it a Japanese Whizzer now.
