Upper belts' ego...
Why do most upper belts I roll with feel so ashamed when they get "beaten" in a roll. I am just a white belt, but I have been doing jiu-jitsu for a couple of years now. So it happens once in a while when I roll with purple/brown belts, that I find myself in a position where I am confident I can tap him out. But as soon as they get caught (lets say in a brabo choke or an arm triangle), instead of tapping, they will just try to escape using all means necessary (for example: knee pressure on the face) and after the roll they will go on telling me how they were going easy and that if they really wanted, there is no way I would've gotten the submission, etc.
Just to tell, I'm absolutely not spazzing when I roll, I always focus on technique and try to adapt my speed to my opponent's. But when I see how they feel somehow ashamed of getting tapped, I come to ask myself if it's related to their belt status. Do you guys think that being at a more experienced level than somebody immunize you from getting subbed by him? Because this is the feeling I get from the excuses they give after rolling. Maybe I'll act the same when I am purple but for now I don't understand their mentality to be honest...
P-S: I noticed some other advanced blues doing it too.
