Correct me if I'm wrong but the Monson/Hinkle choke was just a North/South choke and not an inverted arm triangle since neither of Hinkle's arms are in the sub or cutting off either of his arteries.

was the monson choke really considered an arm-triangle?

I thought for a triangle, one arm would have to be in and one arm out.
