Training without a school
Hey guys didn't know quite where to post this. I am currently training in wrestling, kickboxing, and bjj with my cousin who is a bjj brown belt, he also was a kickboxing champion in the army. I train wrestling with my friend who placed 3rd in state his sr year.
They both put me through the traditional training drills. For ground work they train me in a ymca where they let us use a basement room as long as we clean the mats.
For stand up we have a very good heavybag, gloves, wraps, headgear, body pags, shin guards. When rolling or sparring we use mouth guards and compression shorts with cups for groin protection.
At this point I can't afford to pay the $180/ month the local schools require, so I have found alternate means to train. My cousin is an experienced and skilled fighter both stand up and on the ground so I don't feel like I'm wasting my time training with him. He's also getting back in shape to fight in the local shows.
Here's how our schedule goes:
Monday(I do take 1 or 2 days off depending on how I feel) strength and conditioning(I do this almost every day)
Tuesday thai boxing
Wednesday bjj/wrestling
Thursday thai boxing(light training)
Friday bjj/wrestling
Sat thai boxing
Sun strength and conditioning(light workout)
My bjj is getting better, after a month of training my cousin brought in a blue belt from a local school and I gassed hiom out and pwned him.
Are there any suggestions you guys have to add to my training?
