strength in womens grappling

i know that strength can be overcome in grappling, but is the strength issue harder to deal with for women; as it seems alot of women seem to have a much more difficult time dealing with a truly strong and physical type grappler. Whereas men routinely have to deal with strength disadvantages, i don't know that it is the same on women's end. I know almost everyone i have grappled has been physically bigger than myself and definitely way stronger than me; so i am much more prepared to deal with it, its not a shock.

in the instances i have seen women grappling when there was a girl who was an athletically dominant as it pertains to strength and size it seemed w/a decent skillset she was able to handle most women; even those alot better than her technically because they weren't used to dealing with that sort of power (from a woman).

do you think strength can be a bigger determining factor for women in grappling.

It all has to do with technique.

A lot of women don't have a lot of other women training partners and just aren't used to a huge variety of different people.

Also on top of that, it is much rarer to have a girl be as serious about bjj than a guy simply because there are less girls training bjj.

If a girl committed herself and trained as much and as smart as say... a Ryan Hall/JT Torres, they would be no different than the elite black belts we see today in the men's divisions.

I thought it was normal for girls to spar with guys every now and then?

Wrong, size and strength matter especially when you talk about women vs men. Hillary has stated as such many many times.

Strength and speed always matters. Two people with similar skill sets or both beginners the stronger one will win.

U could have great technique but if your much weaker than your opponent they will smash threw anything u try.

Quote for truth! Technique is MOST important, but you are kidding yourself if you don't think horsepower matters.

It is the SAME for both genders.

2 people of equal strength... the one with better technique will win.

If you fight someone stronger, you need cleaner/better technique to win.

Oh, and the thing that people OFTEN overlook: Technique has a HUGE ceiling.

If you aren't rolling like Rafael Mendes, then your technique probably CAN get a lot better. Even if you are a black belt, there is so much you can improve on.

The people who complain the most about this, have poor fundamental movements from most guard positions.

Again, the people I've seen complain about this just do not have that refined grappling.

Abu Dhabi World Pro NO-GI 2011 - RODOLFO VIEIRA vs RAFAEL MENDES - final black absoluto - YouTube

watch that. Rodolfo vs Rafael.

THIS is what a little person vs big person should look like

Leo Vieira X Mark Kerr - ADCC - YouTube

also leo veira vs mark kerr

Again, AMAZING movement from the bottom. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is stopping women from moving like that.

Third time I am repeating my point: The women who complain about the size issue have MUCH to work on. They don't even look anything CLOSE to mendes/veira in terms of how they move.

Women absolutely can beat men if the skill balance is skewed enough in their favor. Rolling with a female black belt can be eye-opening.
