so i started wrestling yesterday

i found a wrestling club that isnt to far from my girlfriends and went to my first class yesterday evening
ive been doing bjj for less than a year and felt the one thing lacking from my classes was stand up work.
i have a no gi comp coming up on october 1st.
well the class was amazing. its run by some asian guys who made me feel really welcome.
the warm up was intense, i threw up 20 minutes into it.
we worked single leg take downs and defences and then that belly squeeze posiotion and escapes.
im just really gutted its only run one day a week at the moment.
im gonna drop bjj from saturdays and do wrestling instead.
so my new routine is
monday bjj
tuesday bjj drills
wednesday off
thursday bjj
friday off
saturday wrestling

it was so nice spending so long on stand up fighting and working take downs.
i sparred against a guy who has been doing it for a year and i lost 2-1 on takedowns. i was just really pleased on the takedown i got.

Its good to see people cross training in ground fighting and not just cross training by adding some stand up to their game.

like just as i thought things where getting started on the ground it would restart.

i guess its kinda rare for a 27 year old to find a grown up freestyle wrestling class that takes noobs
and in the uk as well!
it was a few iranian guys in the class and asian guys so that might explain it maybe?

welcome to the crosstraining family!!!!!!!!!
You will begin to notice the crossover moves as well. For instance one guy from my brothers BJJ class came over to his crib to work on takedowns so they covered the arm drag and the guy said "HEY! we do that from the guard!" so you will find some techniques practically teh same but from different angles or positions!!!!!
