I train at the size of 6'5" and 260 lbs. I loose to smaller opponents often. Quickness, speed and cleaness of technique are key. You are right about how strength matters. I am usually defeated by men who have 8 to 12 months more time than I. I can usually neutralize an opponent who has the same or slightly more experence than me. BUT THE QUICK ONES ARE A HANDFUL!

I'm 6'3 and 220...i'd say like everyone has said to try to outmatch the guy wtih pure speed...i've noticed when it comes to takedowns especailly if they have a judo background that they will try a hiptoss...i dont know the judo name for it...and i've never been caught in that cause right when they step their leg over to throw me i'll roll backwards into mount...a single leg works well...or just pull guard...if i'm going against someone that is experienced they can usually keep me in their guard pretty well
