Shin Bruising?

Hi, I have been grappling for almost two months now. Originally i developed large bruises that span almost my entire inside of my shins. After some time they have dissapeared but i noticed that the pain is still there. The pain seems to be twice of what it used to be. If there is pressure there during grappling i feel it immediately and it can cause me to let go of certain things. The guy at the gym said its common and that after a while the bruise moves down to deeper tissue and then bone. Is there anything i can do to make these better? Will my shins toughen up? It is kind of annoying, I can feel it a bit even when i walk. Thanks!
