Scissor Sweep

Hi guys

I've been grappling for a little while, and at my club they have taught me a sweep which they call the "basic sweep".

It is a scissor sweep.

One thing I've found is that it is anything but basic. I only have limited success with this sweep.

Does anyone else have this problem? What tips can you give?

Keep drilling it and figure out the timing.

has anyone noticed that it's really hard to pull of the scissor sweep against high blues and purples?

I've noticed that most people don't develop enough strategy and timing in using the scissors sweep to use it against high blues and purples. But I've met some guys who can rock it on anyone, and I've heard about black belts who destroy with it.

It is all about the set up, fake going for a Kimura and put your feet in position to sweep, sit back down from the kimura and sweep them, I used that set up today.

It's my favorite one. I've gotten so good at doing it. I get everyone I grapple with at least once using it. Keep drilling it and you'll start nailing out of nowhere on instinct...that's how I do it.

Is anybody afraid of the leglock from the scissor sweep position? Or is it just me with my ludicrously long legs?
