Just got home from the ER (staph infection)

They numbed it, lanced it, stuffed gauze in the hole, and gave me some antibiotics and vicodin. So, I'm off the mat for at least the rest of this week. I was planning to wait to see my doctor in the morning, but it got so bad that even after 800mg of Motrin I couldn't sleep at all.

The worst part is that I could have avoided it. It started as an infected hair on the back of my left knee. I wore a knee support last Monday in classand I guess it agitated the skin / hair leading to an infected hair. Anyway, I didn't know that you could get staff from an infected hair. So, like an idiot, I popped it with a needle, wiped the blood away with some toilet paper, and called it a day.

If I would have just hit it with some rubbing alcohol and triple-antibiotic ointment, it would have never progressed to full-on staph.

Learn from my stupidity and save yourself the pain / downtime / medical bill.
