Rio Jiu-Jitsu Chicago Pete the Greek

Simply the best place in Chicago to train. No B.S. just great training in BJJ with great teachers Pete and Rob. If you want to go to an overcrowded school with teachers that have a bad attitude, who just want to see how many push ups you can do, and how much money they can milk you for go some other place. If you want small class sizes, focus on jiu-jitsu, lowest prices in Chicago, teachers that are constantly coaching you to improve your game, and making sure the school is knucklehead free (there isn't a bunch of MMA wannabe's trying to heel hook 130lbs newbies) this is the place. I say again that this is the hands down the best place to train in Chicago everybody there has a great attitude and if you have one to you should come by and check it out!

Pete the Greek is a really good friend of mine, and is one of the NICEST people I know. I highly suggest anyone in the area to go and train with him.

I don't plan on joining or anything, but I'm curious where the gym is located...

So many schools in Chicago these days. Pete, Carlson jr, Force, Pedro, POW, Comprido, me (Valko), New Breed, Moto I think it's called, Jeff Neal, etc.

I've been training at Rio Jiu Jitsu for about 3 months now after taking two years off to go to Iraq. I am more than satisfied with the instruction as well as improvements in my technique and the attitudes of all who train at this Academy. My roomate just joined too. He has never trained in any martial art but the instruction that Pete and Rob provide are building him a very solid and practical foundation at an exponential rate. Very good instruction with a lot of great networks. Last month we had a master class with Fredson Paixao. Anyway, I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with Rio. It's like a family to me and I think that's how it should be.

Icon14 Looking to learn BJJ

I checked around for a school in the Northside. I was going to do the dummy move and join DAMA since it was close to me. I am glad that I read the Sherdog forums. Looks like DAMA is not for me. I called the other Northside school and after talking to Pedro, I don't think that he was a good fit. I called Rio and spoke with Patricia and it sounds like Pete is the man. They have been open for 6 months so most of his students are white belts. I passed by Rio and it is small, with clean new mats, perfect! It is so small that individual attention should not be a problem. I will let you guys know if I end up joining.
