Did you look into Fabio Santos? I trained with Fabio for a whole and both he and his place are awesome!

No, that's not how it works at all. All schools have beginner classes, which are usually the largest classes at the school.

I think so. We have a number of guys who occasionally post here who have trained with Fabio for years. His jiu jitsu is incredible, hes one of the highest ranking practitioners in the world, and his stories are amazing(he was one of the originals to train with the Gracies). At least go in for a free class and check him out.

Is it a good idea to check out the their DVD series before showing up? Not really to try a learn everything that they show on them, but more to get a sense of the vocabulary used and a basic idea of starting positions and that sort of thing.

Do they let newbies show up and just watch a practice? Just to get your feet wet without getting in anyones way. Or should i just stop being a pussy and dive in?

Also anyone have any idea what they charge? It seems like people are reluctant to talk about that side of things.

hey man. why don't you check out thearenamma.com they are right next to saulos and its only like $75/month. rani is the jiu jitsu teacher. he's world class also. they also offer muay thai and mma. good luck.

I'll throw in a vote for Fabio's as well as I train there. Lister "came from Fabio" but he actually does a lot more MMA style stuff at his place I think. Can't go wrong at the University though?
