Ribeiro or lister academy?

I'm going to be moving to San Diego soon but can't decide which one to chose. I either want to go to the Ribeiro or lister place but can't decide what do you sherdoggers think.

you can not go wrong with either place, both offer high level, super technical instruction. Having trained with dean and liking his style, i would reccomend his a little more, but obviously saulo and xande accomplishments speak for themselves.

Don't know anything about Lister's teaching style but I'm pretty impressed with Saulo's DVD set. His instruction and fine points he teaches are really good.

Does anyone know the cost of each? Do they require you sign a contract? Is it really a good idea to start at an academy that is known for their high level training or should you try to get the basics somewhere else? (as not to waste anyone's time). I also live an San diego and am looking to start training. Mostly I just want to get some exercise and I miss the fun of competing in wrestling, something I haven't done since university (10+ years ago).

Saulo/Xande are excellent teachers, and they teach most of their classes. I've never had a class with Dean but I've heard he's also awesome -- how many of his classes does he actually teach?

That said, Saulo/Xande are going to teach you traditional jiu-jitsu and that's it. Throwdown provides access to an entire MMA program and gym (at additional cost I'm sure). Depends on what you want.

And Saulo/Xande are excellent for white belts to black belts, you don't have to be 'good enough' to go there, they treat everyone well.

So really comes down to what you're looking for. I'm guessing prices are similar?
