Review of book: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Path to the Black Belt?

Has anyone read this book or heard about how well it is?

Path to Black Belt Link

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Path to the Black Belt
by Rodrigo Gracie & Kid Peligro

All students of jiu-jitsu benefit from this step-by-step textbook, which takes them from the white belt right up to the ultimate, coveted goal of black belt. The comprehensive method assembled here by the well-regarded Gracie family lets fighters know exactly what they need to learn, when and why they need to learn it, and what they can do to progress more quickly. How and how often to train, pacing, training objectives, and how to measure success are all addressed according to the different goals students might have, from the casual practitioner to the self-defense student to the competitor bent on going pro.
The plan detailed in the text can be customized to fit the trainee's body type and strengths. Instructors of jiu-jitsu will also find the manual helpful to their teaching, as it provides advice on program management, student evaluation, the selection of techniques for lessons, and recognizing a prodigy.

It's awesome. One of the four best BJJ books IMHO, along with The Guard, The Essential Guard, and Passing the Guard.

I Liked it a lot. It was fairly basic though so I don't know how much I actually benefitted from it.

Agreed. Fun to read and look at, and browse. Very well done, nice formatting, good pics. One of the best I've seen. BUT, I don't know how much I actually benefit from any of that stuff in writing or videos though. I tend to think I just like to collect that stuff and occasionally browse through for fun.

Great book. In my opinion its just as good, if not better than, "Theory and Technique". Its focuses on the most basic BJJ techniques and all of the subtle details that go along with them. I think its a book that someone at ANY level can benefit from. It never hurts to go back focus on the basics and their details. Like Rodrigo says in the book, a black belt isnt a person with knowledge of the greatest number of moves. A black belt is the person who has mastered the basic moves and who can apply them quickly and correctly when the opportunity arises.

Agreed. Theory and Technique sucks in comparison.

Path to BB is the best comprehensive fundamentals BJJ book out there.

I dont know anything about this book, but I do have the essential guard by the same authors, and that book is incredible. So I would imagine it would be just as good. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about it, and everyone praises it. Kid peligro and ed benneville seem to have some of the best books on the market right now.
