I've tried this a few times, but I have a hard time generating power to get my body perpendicular to his since my foot on his leg/in his hip pushes me in the opposite direction.
Where does the power come from? From pulling the lapel? From pushing my left foot against the ground?

From pendulum-ing your left leg. When you swing your leg in front of his face you use the momentum to turn your body perpendicular to his.

This is a huge step up over traditional BJJ vids. I'd love to see more come out with better production values.
