Origins of the Brabo and Darce Chokes

I have started incorportating these chokes into my grappling, and they have really pushed my top game, especially from side control, to a new level. There are so many great setups for both of these in nogi.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew more about the history, especially the etymology of these chokes. Are they named after the grapplers who invented them?

Thanks.

I've been planning to do a whole write-up on the history of these moves as I know them. I've watched them go through like 5 different names and phases of popularity.

I like to just call them all arm triangles now, because that's what they were before, and it's too damn confusing keeping them straight.

All variations of the arm triangle I love. The only one I have a problem with is the famous "anaconda". I seem to crank rather than choke. I suppose it's just practice.

What i've noticed:

There are only like 7 subs in BJJ, just applied and set up millions of ways.

Arm-triangle choke-
Arm-bar-
shoulder locks-
Air chokes-
blood chokes-
Knee locks-
ankle locks -

Honestly I would include "twisting leg locks" to in that category since form and function is totaly different than the straight legbar.... But I get your point...

Yes, I think that is true. However, the history of moves and how they get named after people is very interesting.
