Judo nowdays is 99% throws and 1% ne-waza. So no, Judo is still not that important, since most Judo fighters have much less knowledge of ne-waza then BJJ guys, and in MMA ne-waza is much more important since there are no ippon throws, and a guy can always practice Wrestling instead of having to practice takedowns with GI which a lot of times doesn't translate to MMA that well

IMHO wrestling + BJJ is the best combination for grappling.

True that BJJ doesn't have the mastery of throws needed for Judo, but with wrestling, you don't really need it.

Your wrong, JJ, not BJJ was around well before Judo was, JJ in Japan invented all of these submissions and throws...

Judo came along to formalize and regulate these moves into a sport that has a limited amount of moves and rules, where as JJ is nearly unlimited in moves/techniques...

Judo = Formal regulated sport.
Jiu Jitsu = Ancient weaponless fighting techniques.
Brazilian/Gracie Jiu Jitsu = A mix of Judo, old school JJ and NHB Brazilian street fighting...

Exactly. This guy wrote alot but neglected to throw that in

You are WAY off base.

If you don't know what to do when you are on your back in a fight you are pretty much screwed. Judo does not teach that well. BJJ is essential in a fight.

Wrestling is more practical than Judo in a no-gi MMA situation for takedowns.
