My teacher Nic is also fighting here.

He has taken silver in the brown at this event for two years running and won the absolute brown in 2007.

He's a fresh black but he's by no means a pushover. If he gets past the first match he meets Moraes so it's gonna be hard to go far but it'll be a good match IMO.

Isn't Nelson fighting?

keep an eye out for brown belts jake mackenzie (lightweight) and marcel goncalves (middle heavy)...also, purple belts gianni grippo and adley lobato. adley is a beast who just won his division and the purple absolute at the miami open, submitting everyone.

he's got a tough bracket though, IMO Leve is the most stacked purple belt weight class this year. 4+ guys with national recognition or better and 2 of them are forum members:

Jayson Patino- ADCC Competitor, ADCC Trials Champion (no-gi)

Looking at the brackets I'm thinking we'll see a killer final between Patino and Gracie, but then again Sean Roberts placed 2nd last year and Ronis Gracie got 3rd (same division) so who knows.


anyway looking forward to it, but I'm thinking my boy Patino takes the division. he's been on fire this year, and if he didn't pull Mendes in the first round at ADCC I think he would have had done real well.

This is actually the the one im most looking forward to really, such a stacked weight class with top level guys at this belt this is probably gonna be the one with the most action i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know what's up with Ari Farais?

he destroyed at Purple last year (gi and no-gi) in impressive fashion, then got his brown and won the Pan Ams and the Worlds in the gi this year, but I don't see his name on the brackets this time. I'm wondering if he got his black belt yet, the kids a beast of Mendes proportions.
