2006 NAGA NORTH AMERICAN GRAPPLING CHAMPIONSHIP (NAGC)
On Saturday, November 4, 2006 the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) held its 11th Annual North American Grappling Championship in Fairfield, CT. The event attracted 1,206 competitors from around the world.

There are several annual NAGA events which attract 1,000 + competitors, the NAGC is one of them. The NAGA made a huge effort to prepare for and accommodate the tremendous turnout.

When you have 1,000 + competitors, fighting numerous times in a day, the number of rings running continuously is crucial. The NAGA added another four rings expanding to an unprecedented sixteen rings.

The venue NAGA acquired for this event, the Sacred Heart University PITT Center, is five college regulation size basketball courts combined into one. This massive venue easily held the thousands in attendance.

NAGA had fifteen staff members at the front desk to register anxious grapplers as quickly as possible.

Overall we believe this to be our best event ever. We wanted to congratulate all those who competed. We hope you had a great time and look forward to seeing you at upcoming events.

Below are the team results for Children, Adult Gi and Adult No-Gi. Special congratulations to Team Link who took 1st place in the overall Gi Team Competition. It coincidently happens to be the head instructor, Marco Alvan's birthday today, congratulations and happy birthday to Marco.

We also wanted to congratulate Team Renzo Gracie for winning their 11th consecutive No-Gi Team title for this event. Team Lloyd Irvin took the Children/Teen Team Award. What is astonishing about Master Lloyd's Team title is that every single competitor from his team traveled a minimum of 6 hours to compete.

Some other strong teams that gave a huge effort to place in the top five included Team Kimura, CTMMA, Lion Kill, TSK, Ultimate Sambo, Royce Gracie and Team Gazzy.

In the end, we cannot thank our entire staff enough for the tremendous effort they put forth to make this event a success.
