My instructor shows an armbar..

From the DVD, Tools of the Trade 2.

He is the first guy in the clip, black gi.

Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBFw8pKg104

There is also a nice half-guard sweep after that.

I like that half guard sweep. How high percentage is it? Have you used it successfully before?

Cool. I found it so useful I bookmarked it for future reference.
After sizing up your instructor I've pretty much decided that he could relatively easily rip my trachea from my throat and then eat my limbs for lunch. Other than that I might be able to hold my own.

I like the armbar because he makes it seem like he's going to go for it on the near side and them switches to the farside. I seriously am going to make this my stock arm bar from the top. Yeehaw!

The guard sweep is something I want to try in class. Think it'll work against significantly bigger opponents? I roll with some fat dudes.

I've used it with LOTS of success. It's not my go-to sweep from half guard...but I use it when I cant get my go-to sweep. And it works.

I use stuff like that all the time, but I like his grips. I usually improvise the grips, but these are better than any I've used.

The armbar switch is great, and I love to use it. You also stop halfway and put incredible pressure on their chest especially if you pull up on the arm or collar at the same time. One of the black belts at our school does that kind of thing all the time. And as your wheezing on the bottom he asks in his most femenine lisp: "What? Are you saying I'm fat?"

Yes, the original armbar was when the guy has his left arm on top of his right arm. The opponent switches it and you take the other arm. It's fantastic!
