My "I Got my blue belt thread." (finally)

Well I started off training in Guam back in late 2000. Moved to Hawaii shortly after and trained on and off (mostly off) for the time I was there. Then moved here to NW Florida and been training the past 2 years straight in BJJ, JJJ, and Judo. I think I was the grandmaster white belt haha. My instructor wouldn't promote me until I had 2 years under him and he won't promote in just one field so I had to wait the wait for the JJJ and judo to come along. I think my BJJ is close to purple level from what I've seen. It was a long wait but I'm a blue for all 3. Now for the long road to purple (O.O)

nice work bro. you personify the ideal bjj student, patience and not caring so much about belt color. well earned it sounds like...lol almost purple level white would be scary for the new white guy who walks in the door and has to roll with you.

weird about the jjj/judo wait thing though.

Congrats! Sounds long overdue. ;-) Where did you train back in Hawaii? What about in Florida. Bet it is a relief to finally get promoted after all that time. How well did you do in tournaments?

In Hawaii I trained at Grappling Unlimited. Here in florida I train on base at Eglin AFB under Danny Ruiz who's from Orlando and under De La Riva. As far as tournaments I haven't been able to compete much due to my location. I've only placed 3rd, once in NAGA and I think it was called the American Cup down in Orlando. First place evaaades me haha.

It is better going to a stingy school mate. The belt means so much more and every blue/purple from our place is never "do I deserver this". It is normally - about time!

I've seen Boca roll before. He was the super fight at one of the NAGAs I went to in Hawaii. He's sick. Last year I went down to a DLR seminar, but I had to leave before the roll session. I should be down there next month again so hopefully I'll get to see him roll. Danny's supposed to be getting his BB. You gonna be there?
