Great idea on setting consolidated 2 month (or so) goals. People do it all the time over in S & P (e.g. "...within 2 months my goal is to improve my squat from 300 to 315..." etc), so I've always wondered why we see less of that over here in grappling.

My 2 month goals:

-Study and learn bjj terminology and move names so that I can understand these discussions better (I'm serious).

-Get my judo "hip switch" faster. That is, get my hips around more explosively and faster for throws.

-Experiment often with the sweep from this thread (Baret's screen shots above), using this thread itself as my resource.

i agree with the JAKE. working on a few sweeps and subs specifically and drillling them daily help very much as sometimes trying to learn 2 much hinders your game.

Ive come to conclusion BJJ is a looong process

I found out last night i can only work on my goals against guys i can dominate...
If I am rolling with one of the higher belts i am not normally in a position to impose my game

I'm still pretty new so my main goal is to learn to relax, i'm in pretty good physical shape but lately after rolling ive just been taxed, im not one to really puke, ever, from anything, but ive puked once after class already, and ever since than I feel like I need to after every class. Now that I think about it, maybe it has something to do with the guys taking it easier on me when I was brand new and now that im a few weeks in im rolling a little harder? I don't know but I hate puking.
GOALS:

1- Relax
2- EAT BETTER!
3- Instead of trying to defend everything right off the bat, Go for something, make the other guy think instead of trying to stay alive only.

Do the more experienced people think #3 is good to try vs people light years ahead of me? I got my first taps last night, they were against guys a little smaller or weaker than me, but up until that point ive just been in the defensive right off the bat, I'm decent at defending subs from other whites and maybe some smaller blues, but when I roll with them that's really all im ever doing is defending... maybe if I'm making them think about defending id have a little more success... not much im sure, but a little heh.

Another goal real quick.
I think it's an important one:
Getting to the clinch against a striker. It's arguable that this is not a grappling goal, but I think it is. You can't toss the guy unless you can tie him up...
Here is specifically what I'm going to be training over the next couple of months in prep for a fight:

Perhaps there's things I want him to think I'm going to do...

Long term goals: 1.) Maintaining a dominant position until I have a sub rather than rushing and going for something that is not there(perfect example is rushing an arm bar from the mount when I am not controlling the arm properly). 2.) Attack more from the full guard 3.) Perfect transition from 1st to 2nd position (as it is now I do not put enough pressure on the persons check with my body so they can sweep me at times).

Short term goals: 1.) Compete at the end of this month 2.) Get my Triangles wired
