Mundial 2006

not sure if this has been mentioned but Ronaldo Jacare will NOT be defending his absolute title this year

http://news.adcombat.com/article.html?id=11376

still, it should be an amazing event as always.

who do you guys think will take the absolute this year? i think it pretty much comes down to Xande or Roger. they each scored a win over each other at the pan-ams...so i don't know who will take it at mundial.

also....how many times has jacare won the absolutes at the mundial? if i'm remembering correctly...they always mention that he's a 2x Absolute Champion...but then if you go to that link provided, there's a section with all the mundial years results and it looks like jacare won it quite a lot of times.

who do you think will win jacare's weight division?

who's gonna have the upper hand in this mundial...marcelo garcia or andre galvao?

too many question haha...can't wait for the event.

hahahaha, yea i'm pretty bummed that jacare won't be competing in BJJ as much because he's definitely my favorite grappler of all-time.

BUT, i must admit that i'm really excited about his MMA career...there's not a lot of guys that make a successful transition from having a successful sport BJJ career and then having a successful MMA career. but i seriously think jacare's style of bjj will do REALLY well in MMA because his style is really aggressive and he's incredibly strong for his size...not to mention his speed.

he's also not affraid to get hit which was evident in his debut match...apparently it backfired as he was a little too brave and got caught. that was a good experience for him though because it looks like he learned his lesson. in his next two matches, he went straight for the takedown to play his game and finished his opponents rather quickly. he's been totally focused on MMA and his stand up will get better...i think he at least needs to get his stand up to be DECENT and he will be a force at mw with his takedowns and bjj alone.

in his last fight, his stance looked better and he was using jabs to set up his takedown. i can't wait until they put him up against someone better to see him in some real competition.

without jacare, i think braulio estima will probably win that division.

i just hope xande and roger meet up in the absolute finals, and its cool that feitosa is fighting again.

The Mundials Absolute division has escaped Roger Gracie twice already, he'll win this time for sure.

I gotta say good luck to Jacare. He's awesome. I hope he does great in MMA.

As for the Mundials, Roger is coming for the title.

well, he's only had 3 fights so far...a big delay was roger breaking his arm at the 2004 mundial haha.

it looks like 2006 will be a lot more active MMA wise since he's turning down to compete in the mundial event.

so anyways...in his first fight, i have no idea why they put up jacare (a fan favorite who's had little to no MMA training) up against a vale tudo veteran. macaco's first vale tudo fight was in 95, i wasn't surprised jacare lost.

soo as i've mentioned, he was wayy too brave in his first MMA fight. his stance was bad...hands were low...and his striking was very sloppyyy. even with his sloppy striking, he KEPT coming forward and being aggressive...no matter how many times macaco would tag him, jacare kept coming. sooo eventually, he takes a good shot and falls to the ground. he wasn't totally out, but he was definitely dazed. i don't know, why he didn't go for any takedowns...again...too brave.

in his second match, he goes straight for the takedown...controls the ground way too easily...gets mount...and just explodes with a flurry of punches causing his opponent to tap. quick match (but against a complete roookie)

in his third match (which went down in april) he fought a more experienced fighter who's actually a decent fighter (he lost a decision to pele in his previous match which was pretty good...but i thought he won it). so yeah, again, jacare's stance has improved...he's using jabs instead of throwing sloppy hooks...uses jabs to set up a takedown...gets on the ground and controls it from there easillyyyy...gets mount...kata-gatame...game over...yet another quick match.

i hope he's really tested this year.

I have to agree. I'm gonna meet up with Feitosa down there, get some training done, complete and hopefully get to watch feitosa vs. gracia. Estima is going to tear shit up along with roger. War Gracie Barra!
