Grappling Technique You don't know a heel hook from a toe hold, and that's why you need to come here.

Purple forever? Thats sounds cool to me.

As much as I am gonna do that move on the first senior grade that I get the opportunity to, under IBJJF rules that is illegal for purples and below. Whilst not exactly the same a a figure 4 toe hold, it dies the same damage and moves the body in the same manner. The exclusions in the IBJJFrules falls under - Mata Leo with Foot - this is how your hands are placed during a Fig4.

We have this debate about legs locks alot - and as of today I will wrkarder to clear this up for my club.

Should someone that needs to learn them for competition, train them in rolling against others not able to (rank wise) use them. and what if a purple belt doesnt train them for the 3/4 years he is a purple then when he gets promted - he knows fuck all about applying and defending toeholds/ kneebars.

whats your view gerbil?

Nice BJJ, Nice photos, Nice Blog, Nice bird - nice bangers! but Im still not sure about the brace thing - even though you said its very popular

Keep it up fella, I know Brazilians here in the UK that read this!!

Gerbil, great thread. I was hoping either you or RIO CONNECTION could answer a couple of questions for me.

Where do you guys do you strength training down there and what is the cost of the average gym? I haven't heard much about your strength & flexibilty training. I'm assuming your doing some.

Second question. Where are Checkmat and Atos located in Brazil? I'm looking for a really good team in Sao Paulo and was hoping to join one of them.

Thanks for the help.

The majority of my strength training is body weight exercises, with the exception of a light kettlebell and resistant bands. There are many pull up bars, etc. on the beaches that are great for building the sport specific strength that is needed to increase your abilities on the mat. I do not remember the cost of the gyms here...but the majority are not cheap.

Why Sao Paulo?
