THE best way to get out of a triangle:
make sure that your arm that is in the triangle is not straight to avoid the armbar transition and so that you can make a tiny space to breathe...
then bring the knee on that side up and place it between your opponents' legs and use that as leverage to get your head out - while looking down (important)
works almost every time - try it and get back to me.

sitting back on your knee i find works the best.. when guys are really good at sitting on their own knee and sneaking out the back door i find it gives a good triangle the most problems.

Great escape:
IMMEDIATELY tuck the arm that is trapped inside the triangle under his body and stand up. Stack him then begin to rotate towards the free arm. Reach for behind his neck or hold his head with your free arm, balance him with the other arm under his ass, keep your weight crushiing him down. You MUST hold his head (or shoulder at first) or he will just roatate with you. try to touch your forehead to his while you continue to rotate, he must open to avoid pressure on his neck. BE CAREFUL when stacking him like this. If you stack and balance him perfectly you can stack him stuck to where he cant let go if he wants to, to do this you have to get his head butted between your knees but it doesnt always happen. Also be careful not to drive too far forward when stacking because you can get rolled over and end up in a triangle from mount.
This has been a very effective escape for Gi and no Gi.

Am I the only one who like to line up with the guy applying the triangle, put my hands on his stomach and then posture up and push down at the same time?

It always works for me.

posturing = strength your way out... if the guy is bigger and stronger, your screwed. See two posts up.

LOL I never thought of that.

My arms aren't straightened though. I try to keep them near the hips as to avoid straightening my arm. I guess I'll have to learn the step over method in case posturing and exploding up doesnt work.
