Knee on belly

Just curious how many of you guys use knee on belly?

Being much larger than most (but not all) of the guys I roll with, I feel like that would just be a dickish kind of thing to do. I'm not out to hurt anyone. And that would be my concern, when I get to the bottom of why I won't do it.

Besides, I can usually get to whatever position I need without resorting to that.

But still curious to see how other BJJ guys feel about the issue...

If you're a big guy, use it. I don't usually do that position. It's not my strong point.

its not being a dick. Just don't use all your weight with your team mates. But just use half or a little more to help you to use your technique with your knee on belly.

I use it all the time, great to shift sides and continue controling, open's up kimura's and armbars, even leg locks (if im doing no gi). I think it is a great tool. People shouldnt be affraid to use it (even if they are heavier). BJJ is a combat sport, you are not there to caress each other. knee on face is bad, on belly.. not a problem

Knee on belly is an awesome position that most people don't work on enough. It opens up so much. It's not a dick move. it's a platform to go off in many directions. I really love to arm bar the far side when a guy pushs on the knee.

I think how big you are has a lot less to do with it then technique. We have some huge guys at my gym and none of them are really good at knee on belly. They go for it obv, but you can slide out pretty easy. The guys that are best at it are my coach (obv) and he weighs like 170. But when he's on you it feels like 370.

And then one of our fighters who fights at 145, he actually cracked a kids sternum with knee on belly.
