Codemonkey76--

sorry took so long to reply...

Okay, do you know the classic sweep??? Its hard (not very basic)
But its a classic sweep variation from half guard...

So-

If I'm stuck in half guard and i can work my one knee in... I grab an arm and push my opponent over my body...
This is hard to explain!!!!!!

It's basically off balancing the person on top of you and pushing your knee into their chest/ abdomen enough to flip them over you..

Again- hard to explain...

either way- yes... there is a standard 'classic sweep' (watch Vitor Shaolins dimensions DVD)

but what I was saying is that you can accomplish a sweep from being stuck in half guard...

codemonkey isnt a hostile poster in general its just what you say seems somewhat contradictive... doesnt add up.

classic sweep thats not very basic from half guard? That just sounds like youre lost in thought. (or post)

then you go on to explain it vaguely and cut yourself off saying its hard to explain? :O

but anyways, it sounds like either a backroll sweep or maybe a scissor sweep? Do these sound familiar?

thnx StevieSparkZ,

No-- I know what a scissor sweep is (learned it as my first sweep when i was a white belt) and not a back roll...

I attended a great seminar in Brazil four months back and we did these sweep variations when stuck in halfguard...

I think I'm just not used to describing the full techniques in writing... I usually just see it and then just train it...

Either way- I think every school names and renames sweeps, so maybe they call it classic sweep where I train and your school/gym calls it something else...
