This was true greatness. I'm thinking of reviving it since I'm still working on half guard. I'm also interested in hearing how Zankou has been doing.

I think you've been reading my mind. I've been reading this thread a lot the last few days. Lately I've been working more on half guard and reverse DLR. The long distance halfguard(where you use the knee in their stomach) has opened up my whole game. Suddenly it's easy to force positions on people.

Over time, I found that playing regular half guard put my shoulder in pain. I've just about given up on underhooking on your side half guard because it puts too much pressure on my shoulder, which is giving me hell these days. So my half guard game is basically flat on my back these days.

More and more, I play z guard to start, try to transition into a bump sweep/backroll combo, and if that isn't going I transition to the quarter guard or half butterfly. Which are actually very similar, almost the same position, once you set it up.
