LOL. Guys you know my style of half guard goes against all standard halfguard principles!!! I am willing to help any way I can.. It is very hard to explain the style of half I play unless we train.. bring a cam to the school and we will post it... I also have the Half Guard DVD coming out in the next month!!! It should be really slick!!! All secrets will be out!!!!

Can you guys post a clip of this half guard sweep I will describe as best as possible. The sweep would go from you having both legs at the back of the other guys knee, where it bends with the foot grabbed, then you would grab the other foot to finish. I want to learn this sweep. I saw Bill Cooper use it in one of his matches.

just thought you all would like to check out my weak sauce attempt at the backroll sweep from z-guard, in last years pan pacific championships (EDIT: As Zankou pointed out, this is actually the forward/scissor sweep from z-guard) (white belt <73KG GI Final)

2:35 mark

YouTube - Pan-pacs - Gi - Finals

Not a backroll sweep, that's the forward/scissors sweep. It would've been a backroll if you went the exact opposite way.

Then the ladies wouldn't have been able to hold back, and woulda jumped the fence to get a piece of the action. They can't resist a backroll sweep.

Zankou, is the foward scissor sweep the sweep Robson Moura hit on Sim Go at the 01:13 mark in this match here:

Question to you half guard experts.

I am pretty good at staying top heavy so I usually end up trying to pass peoples half guard.

Im good at getting the crossface but there are a group of people who use half butterfly, or switch to it when I get a good crossface on.

Do any of you have any general advice or rules of thumb to follo when fighting against a good half butterfly, and fighting against a guy with good leg work?

If you have a specific pass that would be even better.

A video of said pass and I will buy you an E-Coke!
