Well this is after my second night... I've submitted an orange belt twice and landed ippon on a yellow belt without being stopped at all (aside from bill)... I feel I'm getting better, but Bill told me it would take about 3 months to get to yellow, which was a little discouraging...

Well its just a little dissapointing because I've so far landed about 12 submissions and a few pins, and actually had 2 Ippons, and I've only been pinned 2 times (all of this aside from fighting Bill, who just makes a joke out of me), all in only two nights... it doesnt bother me to be a whitebelt...i dunno....
anyways, thought I'd ask you Q, what are the deal with comps, can I compete as a whitebelt? Also I'm overweight right now at 200lbs, but my natural weight is 185, so is it worth dropping to 178 or whatever the Judo weight class is? because I'm fairly strong...

I hear you. If you continue to do well the belts will fly by. There are 7 in judo including white/black so... No rush tho, getting great basics saves plenty of time down the road.
You can compete anytime you like as long as you are registered.
Regarding the weight, since you are new, I would just continue to focus on your tech and train well and fight at whatever weight you land unless you are just a few pounds over. You should ask your coach tho. He will give you the best advice and if he is involved with your comps he may have ideas for you. Later down the road, as you get more advanced and get to know more comp, you will find a weight that you would like to fight at, or more accurately, WHO you DON'T want to fight.

Well I'm glad I finally started Judo anyways, and happier even that Bill is training me... I'm just a little whiney tonite because of Shamrock (who was/is my hero, I'm richieb19 btw)...
Anyways I gained weight purposely as a challenge to myself to lose it (but recieves stretch marks on my arms and hips in the process)... now I'm running over an hour each day (1000 calories) in order to drop... Just wondering if I'd do better at a lower weight...
btw Q I love Judo... and as a quick question to you, are arm triangles a Judo sub? Because I finished someone with one tonight, and asked Bill if it was legal (he wasnt watching), but he seemed to not know what it was...
