Icon14 The Grappling Goals Thread

You set goals in weightlifting to get where you want to be, and you use goals for many other things in life, but I see no goal thread here.

My personal goals are to compete on NAGA and GQ and some others soon and post videos of it on youtube/SD.

If I kick some ass in the tournaments, I'll hit up some seminars and see where the instructors feel my ranking should be (stripes etc). I'm not big on belt and etc but it is a measurable ranking so it's useful.

I will fight MMA in 2008.

Lately I've been just hitting the gym and doing classes and rolling, but I haven't really had much of a goal other than staying in decent shape, fun, and learning some. Now I'm throwing some goals down to jump the gap between 'hobby' and the next level.

Join me.

Also, my nutrition is on track and I'm working cardio outside of the mat too these days. You might even see me lifting weights again. It's ass-kicking time.

Good thread, g'luck with your goals!

My goals?
To have a complete, well rounded game.
To improve upon my abilities, to make sure I understand and am able to apply all the fundamentals to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and then transition myself into a more complete game.
To avoid pitfalls in training that involve ineffective techniques that would never help me against an assailant in a real life combat scenario.
To enlighten others on the benefits of training self defense, be it BJJ or whatever.

& of course, to tap out all the motherfuckers who choke me out! hahaha

-improve in jiu jitsu and enter some comps. Im giving myself a year.
- start training everyday with a secret jiu jitsu master
- tap out that one fat dude who always sits on top of me and cranks my arm back when doing kimuras
- buy a new gi

these have been the main things ive been thinking about latley, except for that fat guy, that would be very nice though.

I have a lot of work to do on my standup and throws as well, but strictly grappling mine off the top of my head include but are not limited to:

-Not forget a technique everytime I learn a new one!
-Learn how to tie my gi pants properly.
-Work more wrestling back into my game
-Drill techniques more often and with focus
-Implement specific goals into my rolls
-Start MMA/grappling specific weight training - main goal here is to put on 10 pounds of properly distibuted long muscles especially onto my legs, which are currently looking a bit lanky!! Squat time!!!!
- and to do my very best to help my grappling partners improve!!

Injuries and personal issues have kept me away from the mats for the last couple months.
My goals involve getting back into it full force. Don't miss any classes. Step up my game in every single aspect.
I need to work more on merging a BJJ mindset with a wrestling mindset.
I need to compete in the next grappling tournament that's in my area and win.
I would like to start taking gi classes as well, since I've only done no-gi.
