going for armbars from bottom guard with high guard

When I take high guard my ankles are crossing behind his neck and my calves are on top of his shoulders. The only way he can get his knee through is if he puts it through his own chin. It might be possible, but they are usually tapping long before they get a chance to try.

control their arms. to do that pass they have to put their hands on your biceps and pin your arms, so you don't kick sweep them. if you control their arms and don't let them control yours they won't be able to stand, without getting swept anyway.

I would say you aren't controlling them enough. I've been working this into my gi game lately a fair bit, I work for an arm and neck, they usually defend the choke which sets up for an armbar. I haven't worked much of this into my no gi game, but being a lot faster and no gi to work with, I'd try and buck them forward and pull them down by the neck and arm and attempt the armbar asap.

They can only stick the knee in if they have space to posture, so cut the posture down.
