Gator Roll

What is the technique for Couture's Gator Roll? Anyone know where to find this or be able to describe how to do it? Also, what's the best classification for the move? It sort of looks like a neck crank to me.

technically the anaconda choke can be turned into a neck crank...but its easier just to sink the choke...Big Nog does it against Herring and another guy as well...it doens't happen often but it does happen...i will say this though...for being such a good wrestler Van Arsdale was giving Randy the anaconda choke

I don't think it's a hard position to obtain. Anaconda chokes are easier to get the grip on correct grip for IMO than guillotines. As for choke being easier than a crank? Not really. Whenever people try this choke they crank as oppose to choking.

I feel I've got the technique down well enough that I choke my opponents rather than crank. I always ask my opponent because I want good technique .. any meat head can crank.

To the thread starter search a vid i posted a thread a day or two back.

Im not sure how "Whenever people try this choke they crank as oppose to choking." This choke is pretty clean, i.e. its not like a standing guillotine where a crank is almost inevitable. I just feel like this technique, to have any success in rolling the guy over, you have to have the choke deep and his neck up.

maybe im wrong

As far as the van ardsdale comment..it was curious he didnt sucker drag, or sit through the the front headlock..worst case stand up back out if possible...You are right both near the same level yer Mike didnt do very well countering a very common position..

Anoconda brother. If your opponent keeps circling away from you on open mat it is difficult to finish. Higher belts will defend this all day. But if you get them against a cage or turnpost, it is alot easier to finish.

Just to mention, there is a really good technique right now on lockflow.com called Drop guillotine or C.R.I.S. which is a Anoconda set up but finished with a neckcrank/guillotine. I tried it on a purple belt yesterday and couldn't finish it, but I am a hack. Good luck.
