Finding a respectable Judo school or club

BJJ has BJJ.org but what does judo have to find school or instructors and confirm that both the judo school and instructor are legit. I was thinking about checking out some judo classes and I have been having difficulty finding a school and if I did I would not know how to confirm the instructors credentials and rank. If no such resource exist, how would I determine or find the credentials and rank of the instructor. Sorry I have to ask such a useless question but I searched and found little to nothing that would help me in this manner.

Unfortunately judo does not have such a tracking system, but you can usually judge how good your club is after your first tournament by the amount of wins you and your clubmates have ... My instructor is a 4th Dan BB and he is on the grading board for Canada so i knew i was at a good school to start ... but you pretty much have to judge for yourself, Good luck

It's pretty much go & check them out yourself.

If you find a club through the National body they are "legit" but this doesnt mean the club will be strong, or the instructors any good.

Competition results - or at the very least good club attendance at competitions, is a fair way of checking if they are serious or just recreational.

Apart from this it is just your own gut feel & judgement about the instructor & senior grades.

Check out the club list on judo.info - then just go and see which one you like best.

Try them, or IJF.org, or USAjudo
