I don't know the answer to your question, but it reminds me of something that happened during a private with De la Riva I had a couple weeks ago. My instructor asked him what he called an underhook in Portuguese and he said he used the word "escrima" for underhook. I have studied escrima and thought it was kind of interesting. Its more interesting to now learn from this thread that there is an entire guard with this name and a pass. Looking forward to learning more about it. I'll check out Saulo's DVD, anyone got a link where I can order it from?
